LEEP
A loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is a way to remove abnormal cells from the cervix as a part of the treatment for an abnormal Pap test result. A thin wire loop that acts like a scalpel is inserted into the vagina to the cervix, and an electric current is passed through the loop, removing a thin layer of tissue from the cervix. This tissue will be sent to a lab to be studied.
